Hartland Quay Field Trip

A little while ago we went down to IGER as part of science week and we had a great time learning about fossils and the way in which different rocks are formed.
We were all really interested in this so we decided to follow it up with a visit to Hartland Quay last week.
We spent the day looking at the rock formations and thinking about the way in which the Earth has changed over millions of years. We also looked at the way in which the coast is being changed and how the valley that runs from Hartland Quay to Spekes Mill has been altered by erosion since it was formed by water running off from the melting glaciers at the end of the last ice age.
We also went in to the church at Stoke to find out about more recent history.
It's great to be able to go out in to our local environment to learn.
