BRADWORTHY PRIMARY ACADEMY

Class Three - Home Learning

w/c Monday 6/07/20 and 13/07/20

The activities for the last couple of weeks are below for you to download. There is a weekly plan which outlines the activities for you to complete, as well as additional files and links that you may need. A printed copy of the majority of these additional files should have been included in your resource packs. As the majority of you are coming in to school for a few days over the next 2 weeks, this plan is designed to cover the week that you are not in school at all. This would also be a great opportunity for you to catch up on some of the activities that you may have missed from previous weeks!

The answers for last week's fraction activities can also be downloaded below.

Our Maths sessions continue to explore fractions, whilst our Literacy sessions are moving on from biographies to autobiographies. In Topic, we are finishing off our exploration of the coast by considering how we can protect it. In Science we are continuing to focus on magnets before investigating buoyancy and floating too!

I am hoping to upload an extra activity or two at the start of next week for those not returning to school at all before the summer. These activities will link to those that we are completing in school so that everyone can still feel involved!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you (children and parents!) for your incredible effort with the home-learning since the end of March. This is certainly not the way I expected this year to end but I have to say that you have been amazing and really stepped up to the challenge. I can't express how proud I am to be your teacher!

I am really looking forward to seeing the majority of you back in school for a few days over the next 2 weeks and I have some completely different activities for us to complete together in school.

This means that unfortunately, I will be unable to be 'live' on the blog this week. However, I will still be checking the class email and blog for messages regularly so please keep in touch!

I think that's it for now!

Have an awesome week,

Miss Runeckles xx

There's a range of different books that you can search through and they can also read the book aloud to you if you want it to! There are a number of non-fiction books on here that link to our current Coasts topic so you may find them useful for the research tasks.

Our time exploring the Romans has come to an end  and we are now moving onto our new topic - Coasts!

I've been looking forward to exploring this topic with all of you because it's very relevant to the area where we live. But don't worry, there is one final mini Romans challenge for you this week too!

Thanks again to everyone who has sent me a copy of their story. I have read most of them and will be sending some thoughts and feedback back to you over the next few days. I have to say I've been quite impressed overall by the creativity and thought that has gone into these stories. It's been brilliant to see so many of you using some of the things that we have been learning about in your writing. You should all be very proud!

I will be online at particular times during the week on the Class Blog (see the main Class 3 page for these times!)  Alternatively, you can contact me directly via the class email and I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

Everyone who has completed activities on EdShed last week should be proud of their effort but a particularly huge well done to Jessie who completed over a whopping 200 games last week! That's an incredible achievement, Jessie!

I will be online at particular times during the week on the Class Blog (see the main Class 3 page for these times!) or you can contact me directly via the class email.

I have been very impressed by everyone's effort on EdShed this week. Over the past 2 weeks, many of you have moved up on at least 1 activity (Danger Words, Timestables or Number bonds) which is exactly what I want to be seeing!

As you can see, Class 3 is now securely at the top of BOTH leagues! You should all be very proud of yourselves. Remember it only counts your scores from the last 7 days so you'll have to keep up the hard work for us to stay there!

I will be online at particular times during the week on the Class Blog (see the main Class 3 page for these times!) or you can contact me directly via the class email.

Have a great week!

An update to this week's home-learning:

Hi everyone!

It's been strange not to see any of you this week - I hope you've not been up to too much mischief at home!

  1. Please find below the workings and answers to '1 Column addition practice' so that you can check your answers. For any that you don't get right, be a Maths Detective by taking a look at the workings to see if you can find your mistake. Obviously, DO NOT look at the answers until you have completed the questions!

  1. Here is an extra combined Maths and Literacy challenge:

Imagine you are trying to talk an alien through how to solve calculations using column addition. Can you write the explanation you would use? Remember to include the following:

  • Maths Specific Vocabulary (hundreds, tens, ones, column, addition, add, plus, exchange, equals, partition, etc)
  • Time phrases (firstly, next, then, after that, etc)
  • Conjunctions (and, so, because, but, however, although, therefore, when, etc)
  • Paragraphs (perhaps you could explain each level of column addition in a different paragraph - it's up to you!)
  • Diagrams (to show the steps that you are explaining)

Please create this explanation in your lined exercise book. When you have finished it, please take a photo and email this to me at class3@bradworthy.devon.sch.uk so that I can see how you've been getting on! This can be completed over the course of the next week (it doesn't have to be done by the end of Friday!)

Don't forget to proof-read your explanation before sending it to me!

Have fun and enjoy the sun while it last!

Miss Runeckles x
