Participation in sport is a vital part of a child's development and a huge part of school life for all our children.
In the first instance we seek to engage all children in regular sessions of exercise, through our curriculum, and through participation in additional activities such as after school clubs.
Our key aim is mass participation by all children, with the expectation that everyone will find sporting activiities which provide enjoyment and which they wish to dedicate themselves to.
At Bradworthy Academy we support the following sporting activities as part of our annual sports programme.
Multi-Skills Activities, Gymnastics, Dance, Fitness Work, Hockey, Football, Netball, Rugby, Athletics, Cross Country Running, Basketball, Handball, Climbing, Kayaking, Surfing, Orienteering and Hill Walking.
Children in KS1 will be engaged in at least two hours of activity each week, with an aspitartion of building this to five hours each week when they are in Year Six.
Children will have the opportunity to take in intra-school competitions, often competing in their house teams, and in a huge range of inter-school events at a local level with other local schools, and beyond this at district, regional and national level.
The Physical Education and Sports Premium was introduced in 2013 to help primary schools improve the quality and range of the sports activiites they offer their pupils.
Schools must obviously spend this money on sports provision, however they are free to spend it as they see fit:
