BRADWORTHY PRIMARY ACADEMY

Bencoolen

On Monday 21st October we spent the day in Bude.
We have been studying the coast in school and one of the things that we have been thinking about is all of the shipwrecks which have taken place on our local shores.
One of the most famous was the wreck of the Bencoolen 150 years ago this week.
We spent some time in the Castle Museum and then went down to the harbour, and out onto the breakwater where the wreck took place.
As you can see in the photo we did some creative writing in our Journals.
After lunch we went and found the grave of the seamen who died, read a poem called "Sea Tongue" in the church and went to look at the marshes beside Bude Canal.
