BRADWORTHY PRIMARY ACADEMY

Bideford School's Football Rally

The ‘B’ teams finest hour!

On Wednesday 25th May,  Bradworthy Academy entered two teams in the Torridge Schools Football Festival at Sandymere, Northern Burrows.

The way these competitions usually work out is that it starts with all the school’s A teams beating the B teams and then they all  battle it out for the cup while the B teams compete in the plate competition. However, somebody forgot to mention this to our B team and so, while the Academy A team won five matches and progressed  smoothly to the semi-finals of the cup, the B team also won their matches and made it to the semi finals of the cup competition as well !

Then our A team were narrowly beaten by a last gasp winner from West Croft A team before unbelievably our B team won their semi-final by beating Abbotsham after a nail biting penalty shootout!
Although the B team were unable to repeat these heroics in the final it still meant that they finished as runners up, while our A team were third! Both excellent achievements!

Although all the boys performed magnificently I am sure none of them will mind us giving a special mention for Ross  our goalkeeper who was quite simply magnificent! As well as saving two penalties he performed with tremendous skill and bravery in every match and as a result he took home a medal plus several cuts, bumps and bruises.

Academy A team – Olly, Matt, Callum, Douglas, Linus, Oscar and Josh.
Academy B team – Ross, Luke, Bertie, Adam, Wills, Natty, Casper and Owen.
