Big Spring Beach Clean

We had a great time at the beach last week doing our bit for the Big Spring Beach Clean, which was organised by Surfers Against Sewage, who also gave us all the gloves for the job.

The children did really well and did us proud as usual. They picked up a great deal of litter. Lots of them were surprised at how tiny some of the bits of plastic were. Class 5 were equally surprised at how much litter they found on the Burrows. They came back to school and spent the afternoon writing emails to the manufacturers of the products they had found.

This has helped us to gain our ’Plastic Free Schools’ award.

My favourite quote of the week has to be "Who knew litter picking could be so much fun!!"

We want to say a big thank you to North Devon AONB who supplied the the litter picking equipment, and our teams of parent helpers who came and helped us out.

Finally, thank you to all of you parents who sent the children dressed for all types of weather! We had high winds, rain, sun and sea mist!
