BRADWORTHY PRIMARY ACADEMY

Year 5 and 6 Football at Great Torrington

On the 23rd of January nine students from years 5 and 6 travelled to Great Torrington to take part in a football tournament.

The tournament consisted of 7 teams, in an everyone plays everyone scenario, the matches were 6-aside with roll on/roll off substitutions, allowing for everybody to get a good amount of game time between them.

The scoring system for points was different to normal football, 5 points were awarded for a win, 3 for a draw and 1 for losing with less than half of the winning teams score, say a 1-0 loss would award a point, but a 2-0 wouldn't.

Our results were excellent, recording 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. When the tournament organisers read the final positions from 7th to 1st, the final two was us and the team we lost to, Westcroft. Fortunately for us their results elsewhere weren't as strong, we finished the tournament on 23 points, making us the champions.

I was delighted for the team, they were awarded medals for their efforts, this left the team in great shape with huge confidence going into their big tournament at Exeter later in the week.

Well done team!
