  • Year Five Poundstock

    Fri 28 Sep 2018

As part of our topic work based on Tudor Life, Class Five visited the Tudor Gildhouse at Poundstock.

We had a fantastic day, baking bread, making ginger beer and finding out about Tudor Buildings.

During the afternoon we were able to dress up as rich Tudors, and learn some Tudor Dances.  We all had lots of fun, and would like to thank the wonderful volunteers at Poundstock for looking after us so well!

  • Dartmoor Training Walks

    Thu 20 Sep 2018

Year Six have recently been out on the rugged terrain of Dartmoor for their ' taster ' walk , leading into our Summer ' Ten Tor ' Walks.  The first group had a very warm and bright sunny day to contend with, and completed a very impressive 10 mile walk .  The second group had a completely contrasted walk , being very wet and windy , but despite this they kept their spirits high and also completed an equally impressive 10 mile walk and were at one point in the clouds!

An impressive start by both groups in differing conditions , and a huge Well Done to them all.  We hope we see them all continue on when we restart ' training ' in the Spring Term.

  • Class Five at Rosemoor

    Fri 14 Sep 2018
To start off their English work based on the Highwayman, the children in Class Five visited Rosemoor gardens this week to make use of the outdoor environment.  Over the day the children took part in a range of activities, including creative writing with Mrs Brauns based on the misty moor setting in the poem, art tasks with Teena using the fabulous forest to practice our use of contrast, and hot seating with Mrs Turner where the children were given the chance to be tied up in the same way as Bess is in the poem!  Everyone had a great time and the children were able to develop an incredibly detailed understanding of the poem.  The children's art and writing work will soon be on display in Class Five - feel free to come and have a look!
  • Pinocchio

    Fri 14 Sep 2018
This term the children in school have been lucky enough to have a visit from the M&M Theatre Company, who brought with them their touring production of Pinocchio.   The show was full of songs and jokes, and everyone enjoyed watching Alex and Mrs Brauns get dragged up to dance to ‘Baby Shark’.   Everyone really enjoyed the performance, especially Pinocchio’s growing nose,  and we can’t wait to see M&M Theatre Company again next year.
  • Year One Science

    Thu 13 Sep 2018

The children in Year One have recently started their science work.  This term they are studying the human body in their science lessons.  To get their brains going the children began by thinking about human bodies and naming as many parts of them as they could. Then they enjoyed drawing a chalk picture of themselves on the playground and labelling them.    Class One have also learnt a new song called 'I have a body', maybe the children can sing it to you at home?!

  • Year 1 Beach School

    Mon 10 Sep 2018

Class One recently had their first Beach School session.

We had lots of fun playing games on the beach and went on a beach treasure hunt to see what we could find!  As you can see, everyone enjoyed being out on the beach and we can't wait for our next session!
