Leaver's Assembly 2011 took place on Thursday 21st July.
It was an emotional occasion and the perfect way in which to celebrate the Year Six children's achievements and to wish them the very best for the future as they prepare to start secondary education.
The attitude of this group of children to their work and everything else that school life has offered them has been quite wonderful to behold.
It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to work with them and to be part of their development over the years and it is great to know that they are ready to move on and to continue their journey.
We are going to miss all of them a lot and we hope that they will remember their time at Bradworthy fondly.
Thank you to all of the parents who came along to share this important occasion with us.
The assembly provided us with the chance to make a number of different awards as these photos show -
Academic Achievement: Erin and Stanley.
Academic Effort: Molly and Olly.
Sporting Achievement: Dani and Douglas.
Sporting Effort: Molly and Matt.
Creativity: Georgia and Elliot.
Cookery: Emily and Dan.
The House Point Cup winners for 2010/11 were Puffins with the cup being received by their Team Captains, Emily and Sam.
Sports Day was great.
Everyone had a brilliant time in the sunshine, did their very best and over the course of the day over 100 parents came to support us.
For the firs time in a few years the day was won by Magpies with Robins coming a very close second.
Going into the final event which was the 100m sprint there was only seven point in it and as we were giving 20 points for first place this counts as close !
The Day started at 9.30pm with the finals of the hockey, dogeball, tennis and cricket team competitions.
We also ran a Key Stage 1 football competition before our younger children took part in some traditional sports day races - things like the sack race and egg and spoon.
All of the older children came out to support them and to cheer and the atmosphere was amazing.
In the afternoon the children in Key Stage 2 took part in our own version of the Olympic Games !
Our events included sprints (50m, 60m hurdles, 100m and 200m), longer races (400m, 800m ad 1 Km Walk), relay races (4x50m and 4x200m), throws (shot put, discuss and javelin) and jumps (long jump and high jump) so there was something for everyone to take part in.
We built a podium on the field so that everyone could cheer the children who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each event, but the best thing was that everyone had a really good go and had a lot of fun.
These are our final preparations for our Ten Tors Challenge which will be taking place on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
These "Tent Heads" are smiling despite the gale force winds and driving winds which we endured last Wednesday evening at Culliver Steps on Dartmoor - but then they are inside their tent.
The trip started with us having to put our navigation to the test.
With only a set of grid references to guide us we had to find our way across the moor to the location where our camping gear had been hidden.
By the time we had found it, it was raining but we managed to gt our tents up before it got too bad and w were set for the night - which was wild !!!
We found enough cover under some trees to cook our tea and then headed to the shelter of our tents for the night.
We didn't get a lot of sleep - but this wasn't entirely the fault of the bad weather !!
The next morning we had to walk several miles to get back to our minibus.
By the time we got back to school it was sunny but at least that meant we could dry our kit out so it's ready for the next trip.
