  • Sponsored Walk 2018

    Thu 28 Jun 2018

This year our Sponsored Walk took place on a very hot Thursday 28th June.  We all enjoyed the opportunity to get out of school and walk around Tamar Lakes.  We were supported by a wonderful team of parents and our fantastic PTA as always, and as you can see from the pictures below, everyone enjoyed the day and the adventures.  We must say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us complete our walk, with particular thanks to Jonny and Caroline Furse for the use of their fabulous garden as our starting and finishing point!

  • Holsworthy Vintage Rally

    Tue 26 Jun 2018

On Sunday 24th June our Brass and Ukulele groups performed at the Holsworthy Vintage Rally. We played for an hour, with a range of tunes and songs from each ensemble. It was fantastic to play to a new audience, and we had lots of fantastic feedback from the audience regarding the enthusiasm and talent of our pupils. As always we are very proud of them all!

  • Kayaking

    Mon 25 Jun 2018

This term our Year Six pupils are completing a series of Kayaking sessions as part of our outdoor activities programme.  Their sessions take place on Bude Canal, and include basic kayaking skills, along with fun and games - including water polo!  Everyone thoroughly enjoys these sessions, and they make a fantastic end to each week.  It has to be said, the highlight seems to be trying to capsize Sir each week, and generally splashing each other - as the photos below show!

  • Dartmoor Camping

    Wed 13 Jun 2018

We took  a group of our intrepid explorers up onto Dartmoor on Wednesday 13 June, planning to camp on Wednesday night and then leave the moor on Thursday. A lot of preparation went into making sure we had all the things required and the children divided themselves into groups and shared out all the camping and cooking equipment needed for each group.  We then loaded up and headed on out ( after a small shopping trip to Waitrose! ).  The groups then had to decide which route we would take to the campsite, they couldn't agree so we split up into mixed groups and worked our way to camp, where we regrouped and pitched our tents.  The children were then challenged to navigate their own route around the moor, being dutifully followed by the adults!   We returned to camp where the groups had to prepare and cook their own meals for the evening , and then enjoyed some fun and games in the evening sun, before settling down for the night.  The following day the children had to prepare and cook their own breakfasts before a final task and the camp removal before a 2 mile walk back to the minibus.

Congratulations to the entire group for an expedition completed!

    Mon 04 Jun 2018

After a very busy few days we had our final adventure of the trip at Crealy on Wednesday.  Everyone enjoyed the indoor and outdoor play areas, along with the rides and as you can see, there was lots of laughter and fun!

Throughout the trip the children have been amazing.  Their infectious enthusiasm, amazing attitude and their ability to work as a team is phenomenal, and they have been wonderful ambassadors for our school and their families.   It goes without saying that we are very proud of everything that they have achieved.

I would also like to thank Caroline, Alex and Sarah for their endless hard work and enthusiasm this week.  We are all incredibly grateful for your efforts!!

Hello everyone!  Its 6:30pm on Day Two and we are enjoying a brief pit stop before we head out to Laser Quest.  We have had an amazing day, and have really enjoyed exploring both the Zoo and the SS Great Britain. While at the Zoo we took part in a Rainforests session, and we were able to hold and see some animals from the rainforest, as well as finding out about the different habitats that a rainforest provides. At the SS Great Britain we took part in a session all about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and learnt how rivets were used to construct the ship. We then travelled back in time to 1843 to attend the launch party for the vessel, and as you can see, much fun was had.

Everyone is now excitedly preparing for Laser Quest - we will update you later on this evening when we return from our latest adventure!

Hi everyone! Its 11:30pm on Day Two and everyone is fast asleep! We've had a fantastic night at Laser Quest, and had a team match and a 'Free-for-all' match. Needless to say the adults were ambushed throughout the free for all competition, but everyone had a great time and Sarah walked away on the top of the leader board!  In the group challenge the children worked well as teams, and Mrs Turner / Alex's group were victorious. After the games we enjoyed a walk through the city centre on our way back to the hostel.  Everyone is now dreaming of the rides and games tomorrow!

Thank you for all of your messages - we will keep reading them out!  Sending lots of love to everyone back home.  See you tomorrow at around 6pm.

Hi everyone!  Its 6:30pm on Day One and everyone is safe in Bristol!  We have had a very busy day exploring 'We The Curious', and everyone enjoyed the Science Show and the Planetarium visit. We also got stuck into the experiments and as you can see from the pictures below, everyone had a fantastic time.

Hello again everyone. It's eleven o clock on Day One, and everyone is safely tucked up in bed asleep (and snoring!!).

After a busy day full of science, this evening has been full of stories of pirates and their adventures in and around Bristol.  We learned about the places that were used as smuggling locations, and saw lots of famous landmarks that link to Bristol's Pirate past! We also learned about words and phrases we use every day, and where they came from. Cap'n Harry also let us play with a replica pistol and early style 'bomb' - Mrs T has even more grey hairs now!!  Everyone is in incredibly good spirits, and we have already received lots of compliments based on the attitude and enthusiasm of the children. We are all looking forward to our action packed day tomorrow - I imagine the next update will be somewhere after dinner tomorrow evening.  Thank you for your messages. If anyone has any trouble sending one, feel free to email it to beckidaniel@hotmail.com and I will add it to the page for you.
