It was a great honour to be asked to perform with The Torridge Male Voice Choir just before Easter.
The concert took place in the church in Bradworthy and even though we were feeling a bit nervous we think we rose to the occasion.
As you can see from the video clip of "When I Grow Up" from Matilda.
We had a brilliant evening and everyone is hoping that we will be able to perform together again in the future.
As part of our topic - ‘Underwater’, Class Six went on a beach trip. We went to Northcott Mouth and Wansom mouth which are near Bude, in Cornwall, on the 20th of March 2015. First we went to Northcott Mouth where we found lots of interesting and unusual rocks and lots of other things.
One of the interesting things that we found were Blue Striped mussels!
They were all in a huge group all over a big rock in the middle of the sand. Another fascinating thing that we found was Honeycomb Worm which was on the same large rock as we found the mussels on, from the outside it looked soft and spongy, however it was hard and rough because it was made from sand.
The Ship Wreck
At Northcott Mouth we had a look at the ship wreck, The S.S Belem which was wrecked in 1917. We got close and looked at the increable remains Mr. Sentence told us all about it, the S.S Belem was on its way to Wales carying cargo when it wrecked at Northcott Mouth, luckily all 36 sailors aboard were rescued
Spiny starfish
As we were leaving the beach Tim (Mr. Sentences friend who was beach combing) Showed us a Spiny starfish that he had found by the wreck. He let us all hold it!

Our wonderful PTA bought everyone a chocolate rabbit this Easter - but we had to earn them !!!
The children in Year Six made up loads of questions and hid them all over school. We had to gather all the answers.
At the end of the afternoon lots of parents joined us for an Easter assembly. There were performances from Year Four, who sang about Boudicca, our ukulele band, who sang sea shanties, and our choir.
Best of all - everyone got chocolate !!
Our Year Four children have been working on a World War One dance project in school for the last few weeks and everybody has been having a really good time developing and performing their work.
The dance was performed publicly for the first time in assembly just before Easter and it was great that loads of parents were able to come in to join us.
You can get an idea about what we've been up to by looking at this video clip.
Our big performance will be at the Bradworthy Arts Festival which will be taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend at the start of May.
Our choir performed a wonderful version of The Green Fields of France at a World War One music festival, which was held at Holsworthy College, during the Spring Term.
As well as some incredibly powerful singing our group of Year Five and Six children also supported themselves with music from our brass band and rock group.
We've been invited to perform at the Devon County Show which is really exciting.
The photos were taken during rehearsals in school and the video clip at Holsworthy College.
Our art exhibition has an "Underwater Wonder" theme this year so in Year Six we've been studying the oceans.
This took us down to some of the beaches near our school where some unusually low tides meant we could explore the wreck of the SS Belem which ran aground in 1917.
It also gave us the chance to look at some of the sea life which we've been thinking about in school.
Including the remains of a Fin Whale which washed ashore on Wanson Beach, near Bude, this winter.
Everyone went outside to view the solar eclipse this March.
Fortunately the sky was clear so we set up a camera, with special filters, so that we could safely watch the moon crossing in front of the sun.
As you can see we got some great photos.
Class 2 went on an African Safari last week. We didn't have too far to travel as our Safari was at Tamar Lake Forest School. The children split into different groups in order to set up base camp for the day. We built a camp fire, made bread, constructed shelters, and one group even designed a contraption to keep the monkeys out of our camp. Once camp was ready we took our home made binoculars and went in search of the wildlife. We had an amazing day, many thanks to Louise and Luke. | |
