Hello everyone! Apologies for the late nature of this update - wifi is not very strong this far south!!
It's midnight on day one and everyone is sound asleep. We have had an amazing day, with lots of laughs and adventures. As you can see from the pictures below everyone is in high spirits and looking forward to another action packed day tomorrow.
We will upload a few photos now, and then hopefully steal the Maritime Museum wifi to get lots more on!
Everyone sends lots of love back home! Thank you for all of your messages - we will read them all out tomorrow over breakfast!
We had a great day enjoying the sunshine at Flambards. The exhibitions were brilliant, and we were so impressed with the questions all of the children asked and answered. We also had great fun on the rides - and went round on them lots and lots of times!
As you can see from the snow we've started our "Ten Tors Challenge" training early this year ! There was more than enough snow for a snowball fight, although it's got to be said that we had to work hard to find some "white stuff" as it was only lying on the very top of the moor between Yes Tor and High Willhays. It was a much kinder day once we were back in the valley, however it was pretty wet underfoot - as you can see from the photo it was "knee deep - wet underfoot" in some places !!! |

Class Four have been continuing to improve their orienteering skills with a trip to Castle Drogo on Dartmoor.
The children did both of the orienteering courses that are available to use at Castle Drogo and walked over 5 miles throughout the day. We were grateful to all of the parents that assisted with transport and leading groups around the courses and luckily the weather was on our side.
The children all enjoyed the day and we are currently planning our next orienteering trip.
On the 9th of February the Year Four children took part in a Tri Golf festival at Holsworthy Community College which was run by Tiffany McKenzie from Saunton Golf Club.
The children were mixed into small teams with children from other local schools and did a circuit of eight activities covering different aspects of tri golf scoring points for their teams at each one.
We did really well with children coming in the third, second and first place teams and four children winning a free lesson at Saunton Golf Club with Tiffany.
A good afternoon for year four! |

On Monday Classes Two and Five were visited by the Devon Fire Service. We learned about the protective uniforms they need to wear when fighting fires. We also learned about how to stay save if we were ever in a fire. All the children were asked to make sure their parents check their smoke detectors at home regularly. We had a fun morning and learned lots too. |

We'd like to say how proud we are of the thirty children who gave up their Sunday mornings this winter to take part in the Gliddon and Squire Cross Country League. Our Under Eleven Girls' Team had a brilliant season to finish a close second to North Devon Athletics Club; and our Under Eleven Boys also did really well to finish in the top ten. Our best placed individual runner was Amelia (Year Six) who finished the season in fourth place. We'll be taking part in the atletics league this summer so you'll need to keep checking our web-site to find out how we get on. |

The story teller and author Clive Pig visited us in school this Friday. Mary is our school librarian and we're really grateful to her for her hard work over the last couple of months setting up this wonderful new area. Clive Pig's visit certainly helped !!! |

We took over forty runners to Bude this February to take part in the annual event on Summerleaze Down. We were very proud of the effort that everyone put in. Our Under Eleven Boys' Team had a fantastic afternoon; finishing in second in second place, with George coming in sixth and Joseph and Adam finishing in the top twenty. |

Here we are in action at this year's Milano Trio Gymnastics Competition at Kingsley school last Sunday. Our mixed team (Isaac, Meg and Libbie) won their competition which means that they have qualified for the National Finals in Stoke next month. This is a huge achievement for them - and also the third year running that the school has had a team in the Nationals ! |
