  • Sculpture 2014

    Sun 29 Jun 2014
Year Six spent all of last week transforming the front of our main school building.
It hasn't been looking its best since the plants which were there had to be dug out so that drains could be put in as part of our building project.
The paintings and sculptures that this talented group of children have created have made a huge difference.
  • Lynmouth

    Fri 27 Jun 2014

On Wednesday 25th June class 4 went to Lynton and Lynmouth to learn how humans have used water to improve transportation and look at a disaster that was caused by water.

Firstly, we drove by cars and a mini bus, but before we arrived at Lynton we stopped at Woody Bay Station! A man who worked at the station gave us talk he was named Alec, he explained how the steam train worked and told us lots of amazing facts.

After that, we went on the train we went in the third class carriage on the steam train. Alec told us more cool facts we also got the chance to ask some questions. Just before we went back to the station all of us got to see the rails change.

Next ,we went over to the cliff railway, Mr Lewis asked us how we thought the cliff railway worked it took us till lunch time to figure it out it turns out that it fills up with water and the weight of the water pulls it down.

After lunch we got split up into two groups, one group went to the museum and the other group went and drew a picture of the river and part of Exmoor, then the two groups swapped over.

At the museum we saw a miniscule model of Lynton and a news report of the flood which killed over 22 people.

Finally, it was time to go, so we walked to cliff railway then back to the vehicle’s to go home. So we learnt many things about the use of water and we all agreed that the cliff railway was the best part. Well this is the  end of our trip so we’ll sign it of here!

  • Kayaking 2014

    Thu 26 Jun 2014
We got a very well developed programme of water-sports at school.
In addition to swimming lessons every year our older children are also regularly involved in things like surfing, sailing and kayaking.
These photos were taken on the canal at Bude this June.
  • Climbing Club 2014

    Wed 25 Jun 2014
We've been climbing all year and as you can see our skills have really developed.
Some of us are even lead climbing (where you have to clip the rope in as you go) at a "Hard Very Severe" grade - which is a pretty good standard.
In addition to climbing in school on our boulder and lead wall we're also going down to Simon's wall more regularly, which is where these photos were taken.
  • London 2014

    Tue 24 Jun 2014
We spent the last day of our London residential at Thorpe Park which was an amazing way to finish our trip.

Our school places a great deal of importance on our residential trips and we work hard to provide a series of visits which involve children from Years Three to Six.
They have always provided an exceptional experience for the children and it's got to be said that our staff really enjoy them too.

This year's Year Six group were simply amazing and, speaking for myself, I've got to say that I've thoroughly enjoyed every single second of the trip.
It's been an absolute pleasure being away with this group.

The children have received endless positive comments relating to their behaviour and attitude, and, in addition to this, they have shown outstanding levels of enthusiasm, independence and confidence - taking all of the demands of this trip in their stride and showing themselves to be thoroughly impressive people.

As Headteacher I can honestly say that I have never been as proud of a group of children as I have been of this group and I hope that the children themselves, and their parents, are feeling the same.

I'm absolutely certain that this experience has enabled every child to grow, and that we have all gained some wonderful memories that will stay with us forever.

    Day Four Up-date.

We're safely back from Ice Skating - and a quick run in to town to see Buckingham Palace.
As usual we had loads of fun and lots of tired children and adults !

Everyone is fast asleep ahead of another action packed day at Thorpe Park.

    Day Three.

Sorry you didn't get an update this morning.
We had an early breakfast and were out of the hostel at 8.20am so that we were in time for our tour of Parliament. As you can see we were really lucky to be shown around by our local MP Geoffrey Cox.

The weather has been lovely so after we left we went for anther trip on the river.
This time we went on an open top ferry so we got loads of great photos.

We've seen the Crown Jewels and heard loads of gruesome stories about torture, executions and an escape from The Tower of London.

We're having a much needed hour of "down time" at the minute before we head to the theatre this evening to see Wicked.

    Day Two (7pm)

As always it's a quick update as we have a bite of tea and get ready to head out again for the evening.
We've successfully crossed London today, going from The Natural History Museum to Westminster Abbey, and then down to Greenwich on a ferry to visit the planetarium.
The children have been fantastic and we've had a great day.

We're heading off to bowling in a few minutes. We'll upload some more photos later on when we get back so check back later.

We're back at the hostel after a fantastic evening bowling - except for the fact that the children beat the teachers again !!
We also watched some street performers at Piccadilly Circus and walked along the embankment to see the city lights.
It's midnight again and everyone is fast asleep ahead of an early start and Parliament.

  • Bristol 2014

    Thu 19 Jun 2014

It's the end of Day Three and everyone is safely back at home.

We have had an amazing day at Crealy, as you can clearly see from the pictures below.  The play areas, rides and slides were lots and lots of fun, and any spare energy was well and truly burnt off!

Throughout the week we have received countless compliments on the behaviour, attitude and presentation.  They have been a credit to the school, and their parents!! I would like to thank each and every one of them for displaying such amazing attitudes and for making the trip such a wonderful experience!

Also I would like to thank Robin Lewis, Ian Sampson, Caroline Stevens, Helen Carey and Lynne Walker for all of their hard work this week - the trip wouldn't have been a success without their effort, and I am incredibly grateful!
