  • Golf

    Fri 29 Mar 2019

Over the past few years children from Years Four and Five have been taking part in golf sessions at Holsworthy Golf Club.  Following on from these sessions, we were able to send a Year Three and Four team to a golfing tournament shortly before the Easter break, and we are pleased to report that the team won this event and have now qualified the Devon County Golf Finals in June.  Our Year Five and Six children are due to compete shortly after the Easter break, and we wish them the very best of luck.

  • Phone Lines!

    Fri 29 Mar 2019

Hello everybody.  Unfortunately last night's rather spectacular weather has left us without phone lines today.  We have established a call divert service to a mobile telephone, but there is only one line available so please bear with us while we wait for repairs to take place.   We also have no internet connection, and therefore we are unable to check emails today.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and will endeavour to be back up and running as soon as possible.

  • Gymnastics Nationals

    Fri 15 Mar 2019

After the Trio team, Rory Piper, Ewan Shadrick and Stanley Waters, qualified for the Schools National Gymnastic finals, they represented their school and the whole of the South West at the finals at Stoke-on-Trent on the 15th March 2019. Each gymnast performed a one minute individual routine, two vaults and then a group routine to music. The boys had an amazing result with their group routine being ranked 4th, beating many other schools from all over the United Kingdom.

We are all incredibly proud of the boys who competed in this competition, and amazed by their achievements.  To qualify to compete in a national level competition, and then gain such a successful finishing position is incredible, and a real testament to all of the hard work from the children themselves, their coaches and the parents who accompanied them to Stoke.

  • World Book Day & Easter Egg Hunt

    Thu 14 Mar 2019

Once again we have been able to enjoy festivities in school for World Book Day.  This year we not only dressed up as characters from our favourite books, but also took part in a whole school quiz which was expertly organised by Kymble Eldridge, our new Librarian.

During the quiz we saw representatives from each house battling for the World Book Day Trophy, facing some incredibly challenging questions. In addition to this everyone was able to take part in a range of games and questions in different rounds, with many children winning bonus 'Easter Egg' prizes!

After a very close quiz, with all teams putting in an amazing performance, we were able to crown the Robins as the winning team, and they will now take possession of the trophy until next year!

After a busy morning we were then able to get stuck in to an Easter Egg hunt which had been set up for us all to enjoy by our wonderful PTA. The children had to hunt all over the school for clues and letters, before swapping their completed sheet for an Easter Egg!  This was a wonderful way to finish the Spring Term, and the perfect start to the Easter Holidays.  Thank you, as always, to our fabulous PTA who put in so much effort to provide the most amazing experiences for our children!

Our Under Eleven Girls team came sixth beating three other teams in a very large category with some very strong competition.

Our gymnasts also had some amazing individual achievements when Stanley (Y6) came Second overall in the Under Eleven Boys category and Ewan (Y5) scooped Third place. Well done to all who competed!!

  • Dartmoor

    Fri 01 Mar 2019

Our Year 6's have resumed their walking on Dartmoor once more.  We couldn't have asked for a better day to take a group out for a 12 mile walk over some pretty tough terrain and even had time to sit in the sun and have a brief history lesson! The children walked extremely well, lapping up the spring sunshine and taking everything the challenging moorland landscape could throw at them in their stride.

  • Arts Festival Brief

    Fri 01 Mar 2019

This year our Art Exhibition will once again coincide with the Bradworthy Arts Festival on 4th and 5th May. Each class will be producing a group display and every individual child will be making an independent piece in their own time. In the past we have been amazed by how imaginative and inventive our children are.

    THE BRIEF

Each child is being asked to make a model of themselves.

The model should be between 30cms and 90cms tall.

It should be made out of recycled, reclaimed and found materials.

The figure may be dressed in the clothes or costume of the child’s preference whether it be school uniform or fancy dress. It could be the outfit of the job they would like when they grow up or pure fantasy.

    It must be three dimensional.

The model must be freestanding. It could be fixed to a base or maybe have big feet.

Assistance may be given by parents and friends but it must be predominantly the child’s work.

Adults are welcome to have a go. They are allowed some help from their offspring!

All models must be delivered to school during the week we return after the Easter holiday, the week beginning 22nd April.

Start soon and take your time. Don’t leave it to the last minute.

“Bonkers is good” is our motto. Be creative and have fun!

  • Indoor Athletics County Finals

    Fri 01 Mar 2019

During the Winter our Athletics team have taken part in regional indoor athletics competitions in Torrington and Barnstaple, qualifying for the County Finals this Spring.  In early March our team went to Plymouth to compete in the County Finals, against the best teams across the county.  We were very proud of the children for the effort and determination they showed in getting to this event, and they gave everything that they had during the competition.  Unfortunately we didn't reach a medal position this time, but we are all very pleased with the achievements the children have gained, and look forward to competing again next year!

  • County Football Finals

    Fri 01 Mar 2019
As we have already reported, our footballers recently won a regional competition and qualified for a place in the Devon County Football finals.  Our team headed to this event in March and we were very excited to travel down to Plymouth and play against the best teams in Devon.   The competition took part in a group style competition to begin with, and our team played really well and were able to show off their skills.  After several very close matches, we unfortunately conceded a goal which stopped the team from progressing to the semi finals.  As you can imagine, the team were very upset by this, but we are incredibly proud of them and the effort that they have put in to their football.  To be able to compete among the best teams in Devon is a huge achievement!
  • Yarn Bombing!

    Fri 01 Mar 2019
As many of you will have already seen, our Textiles Club are now famous TV stars!  Shortly before the Easter break the textiles club were approached, and asked if they would like to contribute to the Yarn Festival at RHS Rosemoor.  This involved them working for many weeks to create woolen decorations for a tree within the gardens.  While the children were in the gardens decorating their tree, they were invited to be part of some filming for Spotlight News.  The following day, a small group of our textiles experts were filmed with the BBC Reporter, who was thoroughly enjoying the children's creations on the tree, and receiving some finger knitting lessons from our children.   We are very proud of the children who have contributed to the Yarn Bombing project, they have been fantastic ambassadors for our school.  Thanks go to everyone involved in making sure that the Textiles club can take place - both teaching staff and parent volunteers.
