    Sat 16 Oct 2021 Richard

We took 40 children over to Torrington this October to take part in this year’s Steven’s Shield Cross Country Running event.

This is probably the most competitive run of the season.

There were over 400 children taking part from all over North Devon.

We are incredibly proud of the effort that every single member of our put in.

Everyone was a real credit to our school.

  • Bikeability - Autumn 2021

    Thu 14 Oct 2021 Richard

Our Year Five and Six children are really lucky to have the opportunity to take part in two days of free training which teaches them how to ride their bikes safely.

The photo shows some of our children with their instructors and I’m delighted to be able to say that that they have said that this is the best group they’ve ever worked with.

  • More Football !

    Wed 13 Oct 2021 Richard

For the second week running we headed over to our local rivals, Woolsery School, to play some football matches.

This week we took two teams comprised of younger children from Years Three and Four.

Our B-Team played really well and put in loads of effort but couldn’t take the goal scoring chances that they created.

Our A-Team put on a really impressive display to win their match with a hat-trick from Seth, and two goals from Violet - both in Year Four.

    Results:

    Woolsery A.  0 - 5.  Bradworthy A.

    Woolsery B.  2 - 0.  Brsdworthy B.

  • Harvest Rehearsals

    Wed 13 Oct 2021 Richard

As you can see our band is rehearsing hard for their first concert for a long time.

They’ll be playing three songs at the services in church this October. We’ll also be singing loads of traditional, and not so traditional, harvest songs.

Everyone is welcome to join us in the village church:

    Key Stage 1 Service - Thursday 14th at 11am.

    Key Stage 2 Service - Thursday 14th at 2pm.

  • The Great Bradworthy Bake Off

    Sun 10 Oct 2021 Richard

On Friday 8th October we held our annual Great Bradworthy Bake Off in support of MacMillan Cancer Research.

It was a record event with 118 eateries and it was brilliant to welcome over sixty parents, grandparents and great-grandparents for coffee and cake.

We are really appreciative for the support of everyone who entered the competition, or who brought in money to buy cakes.

    These are the results:

Star Baker - Lily (Year Six)

Best Decoration - Ella (Year Six)

    Chocolate - Jess (Year Five)

    Biscuits - Logan (Year Five)

Free From - Jake (Year Six)

    Citrus - Archie (Year One)

    Savoury - Amelia (Year Three)

Fruit and Veg - May (Year Six)

We are very proud to have raised a brilliant £350 for this important charity.

  • Wakeboarding - Autumn 2021

    Sat 09 Oct 2021 Richard

Our Year Six children have just completed their fourth wakeboarding lesson.

We’ve been going over to The North Devon Wake-Park each Friday afternoon, after school, and as you can see from the photos we’re doing really well.

Well done to Ollie who went round the lake six times on a wakeboard.

    A new school record !!!

  • Author Visit - Autumn 2021

    Sat 09 Oct 2021 Richard

Our Key Stage 2 children were really lucky this week when they spent an hour and a half with children’s author Gill Lewis.

She visited us as part of the Appledore Book Festival and it was really inspiring to hear her read extracts from her books, to listen to her talk about her inspirations and to have her answer our questions.

Children in Key Stage 1 were visited by another author, Suzie Laverty, earlier in the week.

  • Football is Back !!!

    Sat 09 Oct 2021 Richard

We played our first football matches for eighteen months this week !

We travelled over to Woolsery to play our local friends and rivals and were even able to bring along a group of supporting parents to cheer us on.

Compared to all of this the results were almost secondary, although it’s obviously great to record two wins:

    Woolsery A.  3 - 5.  Bradworthy A.

    Woolsery B.  1 - 3.  Bradworthy B.

Well done to Max, in Year Five, who scored a hat-trick for our B-Team.

  • We The Curious

    Fri 01 Oct 2021

We’ve made it to Bristol and our first task is to carry out loads of experiments about living on The International Space Station.

As you can see it’s already lunchtime!

And now we’re exploring the most amazing science playground…..

In our 3D planetarium show we explored our Solar System and then blasted out into deep space to look back on our Milky Way.

    A brilliant trip.

    Now we’re exploring science again…..

    Unfortunately we’re heading home.

Traffic allowing we’ll be back at 7.00pm.

We’ll post again if we’re late.
