  • Happy 2020

    Thu 26 Mar 2020 Richard

When we found out that school was going to be closed until further notice this March we were really upset. Everyone has such a great time, doing so many wonderfully different things, in school that it was hard to wrap our heads around the fact that we could be off for a long time.
In Year Six we started thinking about all of the things we've got planned for the Summer Term and the thought of missing this made everyone really down.

On the last day of school we decided to do something to cheer ourselves up so decided to make a music video which we set to Pharrell Williams' Happy.

You can see our video on You Tube - Search for Bradworthy Academy and watch Happy 2020.

We hope it cheers you up to …...

  • Books For School 2020

    Mon 16 Mar 2020 Richard

We've been collecting tokens from the Sun Newspaper so that the school can get loads of new books for our library.

The photo shows our librarian, Kymble, with a few children and hundreds of books which we recieved last week - what is especially nice is that we didn't quite reach our target but the books came anyway.

Thanks for all the help we've had with this and especially to The Sun for bending its rules and supporting our small rural school.

  • Joy 2020 Festival

    Sun 15 Mar 2020 BT

As you will already know, music plays an enormous part of school life, and we were thrilled to be invited to take part in the Joy 2020 Festival at the Big Sheep on 7th March.  This involved a choir of 40 children, singing two songs in front of three visiting Bishops and an enormous audience.   As always, the choir performed amazingly, and we are incredibly proud of them.  We were very pleased to be able to share a performance slot with the Torridge Male Voice Choir, and we are now looking forward to our joint concert with them on the 29th May.

  • St Petrock's Cross Country 2020

    Sat 14 Mar 2020 Richard

We took a depleted team (because we had two teams competing in Gymnastics Nationals) of only twenty runners to this year's cross country running event on Summerleaze Down in Bude.

Despite the fact that we didn't pick up any medals, and despite the cold wet weather, our team did an amazing job, putting in all the effort that they had, and having a good afternoon competing for our school.

We're really proud of everyone who took part.

  • North Devon Gymnastics Finals

    Thu 12 Mar 2020 Richard

Gymnastics is a big part of our sports provision and, putting aside the huge amount of success we've had over the years, the best thing about our work is the number of our children who choose to take part each week, and who choose to represent our school.

We took over sixty gymnasts (nearly a third of our school roll) to this years North Devon Schools’ competition. We had another year of outstanding  success, winning a total of twelve medals:

    • In the team competitions we won three Gold Medals – Under Eleven Boys’ Intermediate Team, Under Eleven Mixed Team and Under Seven Mixed Novice Team.
    • We also won three Silver Medals – Under Eleven Girls’ Intermediate Team, Under Nine Mixed Intermediate Team and Under Seven Mixed Intermediate Team.
    • Our Under Nine Girls’ Team won a Bronze Medal.
    • In the individual competitions Jayden (Year Four) won Gold, Ewan (Year Six) and Hugo (Year Two) won Silver and Lola (Year Two) won bronze.
    • Eleanor (Year Six) won a special award for Endeavour.

  • Dartmoor March 2020

    Fri 06 Mar 2020 BT
Year Six have started to venture into the wilderness of Dartmoor, having completed 3 walks so far this year varying  between 10 and 14 miles. They have certainly experienced some of the worst the weather can throw at them, with all three walks being wet and windy with the latest walk even having enough snow for a very short snowball fight!  Each walk has ended with them all in high spirits which is great to see and they should all be proud of themselves.
