You can keep up to date with all of our latest school news on this page..
We’re delighted to be able to tell you that Mary Weblin will be working in school each week as our School Librarian.
We are beginning a fantastic new development project which is going to promote a love of books and reading across the school and we are delighted that she will now be coming in every Friday to help us.
We are working to improve the school library, reorganize the space and make it really inviting and user friendly.
The PTA has bought a computerized library system which will allow children to check out books to take home (once we have bar coded and catalogued all of them!).
It is absolutely fantastic that we are able to offer this resource to the children as it will nurture the huge love of books and reading which already exists in school.
We will be purchasing new books for the library and have arranged a trip to the School Library Service where we will be able to browse in their bookshop and stock up on lots of fantastic new items.
In addition to this we have also taken out subscriptions to a couple of brilliant children’s magazines (Aquila and The Phoenix Comic) and have plans for many exciting reading related activities.
Day Five
Morning everyone.
everyone has had a great nights sleep - which isn't surprising !!
We're just about to leave the hostel to head for Thorpe Park.
See you all back at school at mid-night !
The cards were an acting game which we did with one of the actors from the Globe Theatre.
The higher the card the more important the person.
We weren't allowed to look at our cards just go on the way people reacted to us.
The rest of the photos show us at St Paul's and the British Museum.
Ice Skating was brilliant this evening and when we were finished we went to look at Buckingham Palace.
We'll put some photos on next time we up-date this page.
It's gone midnight and everyone is fast asleep ahead of Thorpe Park tomorrow.
As promised here are a few photos of us ice skating on Tursday evening - and one which shows us outside Buckingham Palace when we finally made it there at about 10.30pm.
We couldn't come home without a visit could we !!!
We've got some great photos from Thorpe park still to come so check back later.
Matilda was amazing !!!
We're safely back in the hostel and everyone must be getting tired because everyone is asleep and it's not even midnight - not quite anyway !!
Another busy day is ahead of us tomorrow so sleep is probably a good thing !
More photos tomorrow.
Day Four
We've just finished tea and are about to go ice skating.
It's been another wonderfully busy day; starting with the Tate Modern, then Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, followed by St Paul's Cathederal and finally The British Museum (although we were down to a "die hard" group by then with the others going back to the hostel to chill out).
As you can gather the day has been pretty full on and the British Museum group haven't been in very long.
This is the excuse for the lack of photos.
We'll post more later so check back later on - much later on !!!
(We'll also explain what the cards on the head are all about !!)
We've had a wonderful afternoon at the Tower of London.
The best bit was when Symi was tortured for treason. Unfortunately Health and Safety wouldn't let us use a real "rack" so she had to stretch herself - somehow it just wasn't the same !!!
Our guide told us some wonderfully gruesome stories - far to horrible for this web-site !!
We also visited the site where Lady Jane grey was executed, toured the White Tower and saw the Crown Jewels.
We're having an early tea becasue we're off to see Matilda at the Theatre this evening.
We'll do another update when we get back - late !
Jess isn't the only one who can "photo bomb" !!!
(I'm sure I was very welcome in the photo)
Bowling was great well done to Becky who got the highest overall score - she even beat the adults; although to be fair this isn't saying a lot !!
After the bowling we went over to Picadilly Circus to watch the street performers - except there weren't any !
This didn't bother us though - we simply sang some songs ourselves.
We gathered a fair crowd but no money.
Maybe we should have put our caps on the floor.
When we finished singing we went down to the river to see the lights.
We're all safely back in the hostel and everyone is asleep.
More up-dates tomorrow so keep checking back.
Morning everyone.
We had a great nights sleep and we've made it to the Natural History Museum where we're checking out the dinosaurs and the Blue Whale.
We've got free wi-fi so you're getting an extra update.
More later .....
