  • Football at Shebbear College

    Thu 31 Jan 2019

Our girl's football team has been in action this week, in a fixture against Shebbear College.  They played incredibly well, in very unique weather conditions, and won the match 3-2!  The team worked hard to create brilliant goals, with every player showing great spirit and determination in what was our first fixture of the new year.

  • Gymnastics @ Kingsley

    Mon 28 Jan 2019

On Sunday 27th January our Gymnastics teams entered the Milano Gymnastics Event at Kingsley School.  We entered four teams, who completed individual floor routines, a team routine and individual vaults.

We had fantastic results, with one Girl's team gaining a bronze medal, with our second girls team achieving fourth position, only 0.1 of a point behind the other team!   Our mixed team also came away with a bronze medal, and our boys team reached first place and have qualified for the National Finals in March.

We were also incredibly proud of Stanley Waters, who achieved an individual silver medal in the Boys Under 11 Category.   In addition to this, special thanks must go to Isla Hayes, who bravely stepped in to join a team less than a week before the competition, working incredibly hard to learn the routines in time!

It goes without saying that we are incredibly proud of all of our gymnasts, their hard work and dedication has most certainly paid off!   There are several more gymnastics competitions on the horizon, so keep your eyes peeled for more excellent results!

  • Gliddon & Squire Update

    Mon 21 Jan 2019

Our Cross Country team has continued to have many successes this season, completing the penultimate race on Northam Burrows on 13th January.

With one final race to go, the teams could be on track for the best year ever of competitions.
At present we have one team in 2nd place, and two teams in 3rd.  Our final team is sitting in 4th position. We also have several children potentially finishing the individual competitions in medal positions.

Things are certainly ‘all to play for’ as we enter the final race on 3rd February!  Watch this space for the final results!

  • BMC Climbing Competitions

    Sun 20 Jan 2019

In January the British Mountaineering Council’s Youth Climbing Series began, with our 25-strong climbing team heading to Poole for the first round, and Exeter for the second round.  So far we have completed a bouldering round, and a roped round, with another of each round to be completed.
At the end of the first round we had some fantastic results, both individually and within our teams.   In the older category Beth is placed 9th and Stanley 6th, while in the younger category Lauren is in 4th place while Dan, Louie, and Adam hold 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the boys competition.

We will update this post as soon as we know the scores from round two and the new individual standings!

  • Fantastic Football!

    Thu 10 Jan 2019

One of our football teams took part in the North Devon Area Football Finals during the Christmas Holiday. They played against teams from many of the larger schools in North Devon, including Sticklepath, Newport and Ilfracombe.

The team played amazingly well, and remained unbeaten throughout the entire competition.  They also only conceded one goal prior to an incredibly tense final.  It was here that the team’s performance was put to the test, but they rose to the occasion and won a particularly agonising penalty shootout 3-1.

It goes without saying that we are all incredibly proud of the team, and the way that they came together. Their effort and determination were simply outstanding. They will now be representing Bradworthy in the Devon County Finals very soon, and we wish them the very best of luck.

  • Year Five Escape

    Mon 07 Jan 2019

Just before Christmas Year Five were challenged to complete an escape room.  They had puzzles to solve, and codes to crack so that they could find the secret code to unlock the doors.  Everyone enjoyed getting stuck into the problems and challenges, and each team raced to be the first team to escape.

Eventually, with a winning time of 1 hour and 27 minutes, our first group managed to escape!  Congratulations to Olivia, Minnie and Isabella!
