  • Year 6 Science

    Tue 15 Mar 2011
The fact that we have learned to climb and belay safely on the school climbing wall means that we can use our skills in science !!!

We are learning about the famous equation E=mc2.

E stands for energy so we have been looking at the links between force and energy.

We're dropping things so that we can try and prove the link between force and mass and acceleration that the scientist Isaac Newton found.
Newton thought that when two objects collide their energy cancels out but we're not sure we agree !!

  • Street Dance Workshop

    Mon 14 Mar 2011

Street Dance arrived in Bradworthy this week when STREETZ held their first workshop in our school hall.

If you follow the four pictures you can kind of see our fist ever dance.
We've got to go home and practice some moves ready for next weeks session.
We're going to work on our dancing every week for the rest of the term and when we get good we'll do a video - so keep watching.

If lots of us want to keep doing Street Dance then we're going to try and sort out a club so we can keep dancing.

  • Bradworthy Primary Academy

    Mon 07 Mar 2011

As you might have noticed when you logged on to this web-sie Bradworthy Community Primary School is no-more because on Tuesday 1st March we converted in to an Academy in the amzing timescale of only six weeks.

I know that this sounds a bit scary but please Don’t Panic.

Now that we are an academy we are not suddenly going to become a different beast – the things that we think are important and that we have always worked so hard to achieve haven’t changed and nor has the way in which we are going to run the school / I mean academy!

What we are going to do is use the opportunities that our conversion will present to try and work even harder and to achieve the best that we can for the children.

I know that by working together as a team our children, staff, parents and governors are going to make this whole project an incredibly positive experience for everyone …..

….. and in any event the extra money that the school is now going to get will be nice !!!

Our governors and I have had a lot of conversations with parents during the recent consultation process and it was great that so many of them were interested and so positive about what we are trying to do.

I probably don’t say often enough how grateful we all are, in school, to all of our parents for their support for the school, and our children and staff and I know that we are going to continue to work together in the future to make Bradworthy Academy the best place that it can possibly be.

I'm sure that we will hve interesting times ahead !!

  • Our Annual Art Exhibition is Coming !!!

    Fri 04 Mar 2011
These photos show some of our preparations for our annual art exhibition which will be held in the school hall just before Easter.
The theme is loosely based on The Beatles - Yellow Submarine and in addition to the art we will also be holding an opening concert in the Memorial Hall on the evening of
    Wednesday 6th March.
( That's why the brass band are in the top picture !!! )
  • Bradworthy's Netball Success

    Thu 03 Mar 2011

On Monday 28th of February Bradworthys netball team played St Giles and Broadwoodwiger and were successful
    - we won 9-2.
It was a great match with goals from Shannon, Dan and Molly. They were a great team, they managed to get 2 great goals.
We all really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait until the next match against Langtree.
We’ve been successful against four other teams.

Our two coaches Di Old and Miss Daniel are very proud of us all.
We have practices every Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 and we are very proud to represent
    Bradworthy Academy Netball Team.
Without our two coaches this team wouldn’t be possible.

  • Tarka Tennis

    Thu 03 Mar 2011
We've been using the school minibus to go over to the Tarka Tennis Centre in Barnstaple this term.
All of the children in Year 6 have been taking part and we've been working with a cool coach
    called Danny.
We're going over to Barnstaple to play tennis every Thursday afternoon and we're having a great time.

We're outside in these pictures but the good thing about the Tarka Tennis Centre is that they have
lots of indoor courts so we can still play when the weather is really bad.
