  • Cheesewring Quarry

    Fri 17 Apr 2015

We've spent the winter developing our climbing skills in school, and at The Magic Wood indoor climbing centre, so it was great to put ourselves to the test outside, for the first time this year, last week.

The photos show us a Cheesewring Quarry on Bodmin Moor.

  • Class 1 Woods Trip

    Thu 16 Apr 2015
Class one have been doing Superheroes as their topic in the spring term. We have made a literacy link with this and been doing the story of Turbo Tortoise who is a superhero tortoise that protects the garden. Class one have been writing their own turbo tortoise stories and to help spark some inspiration for some creative writing the children went for a trip to Holsworthy Woods where we walked around and tried to see what other woodland animals we could use for our stories to be goodies and baddies.
  • Scarecrows 2015

    Thu 16 Apr 2015

During the Bradworthy Arts Festival Andrea Downing organised a scarecrow competition, it was for all ages and there were many types.

The theme for the competition was underwater, just like the theme in the school exhibition.

There were many different underwater creatures and pirates were quite popular, no scarecrow was the same and quite a lot of them made us laugh.

Like a traditional scarecrow they were made out of straw and then dressed up, but in a fishy way.

The competition was judged by our year Six children and the winner was awarded a prize, just like in any other competition.

The winner of the competition was Sophie Hudson, her scarecrow was a mermaid with out a head so anyone who passed by could be a mermaid and it was a really clever idea because it let people get involved.

Her idea of everyone being a mermaid came from, when she was making the head but it didn’t turn out very well, so her dad said, why not just not do a head and do a sign saying; “anyone can be a mermaid”.

The prize was a trophy made out of glass, £25 which they generously gave to charity and a box of malteasters.

  • Bristol Residential 2015

    Thu 16 Apr 2015

Hello again everyone!  As you all know the trip has now finished, but I couldn't resist adding some photos from our Crealy adventures yesterday!  I also wanted to take the chance to say how very proud I am of all of the children on the residential this week.   Everyone that we have met and worked with has commented on their beautiful behaviour, fabulous manners and their real enthusiasm for everything that they have done.  They have been amazing ambassadors for the school, and a real credit to our community!   I would also like to take the chance to thank Sadie, Helen and Caroline for all of their hard work this week - without them the trip wouldn't have been possible and I know the children have all benefitted from such a fabulous experience!

Finally, I need to say an enormous thank you to the children - the last few days have been amazing and this is all down to them!  Amazing work guys!!!

We had a fabulous day at Crealy yesterday and made the most of the weather by spending our whole day outside in the play areas and on the rides!  Everyone enjoyed an ice cream in the sun, and we played and blew away any cobwebs before we returned to school!

Hello everyone!  It is almost eleven oclock on Day Two, and all of the children are fast asleep after another day of exploring!  We have had a fabulous time today!   Our session at the zoo was really interesting, and we enjoyed learning all about the SS Great Britain this afternoon.   This evening we have topped it all of with a slightly(!!) competitive laser quest match!! The children have been amazing today, with everyone we have met commenting on how polite, smart and keen they have been!  They are certainly in high spirits and we are all looking forward to a nice relaxing day at Crealy tomorrow before we come back!!!
