  • Board Games Club

    Thu 15 Feb 2018

Our board games club continues to be very popular each Friday evening.  As you can see from the pictures below, the children (and staff!) have lots of fun playing a mixture of traditional and modern games.  Anyone who wishes to join in with the club can attend in Year Three on Friday evenings from 3:30pm – 4:30pm.

  • Reception Class at Forest School

    Wed 14 Feb 2018
The children have had two wonderful visits to Tamar Lake Forest School. It has been very muddy but we were not deterred! The children have explored the woods, finding treasures to make a leaf kebab, practiced balancing on ‘the wobble walk’, played in ‘the mud kitchen’ and enjoyed snacks in the campfire area.  We also shared the story of ‘The Stick Man’ and made our own stick men to visit at Christmas. We would like to send an enormous Thank You to our fabulous parent helpers for braving the mud!
  • Musical Differences

    Mon 12 Feb 2018

In December 2017 the children in Key Stage Two rehearsed and performed their Christmas play, ‘Musical Differences’.

Throughout the course of December the children threw themselves into rehearsing and practicing words and songs, working incredibly hard to create an amazing performance.  During the last week of term they performed four times, to enormous audiences, and wowed everyone with their professionalism and their amazing enthusiasm towards the play.

As a school we are incredibly proud of the attitude and effort the children put into their performances this year.  Every single child gave their very best to make the play a success, and they certainly achieved their aim!

  • Time Flies

    Fri 09 Feb 2018

As part of our annual Art Exhibition, the children have been hard at work creating clocks and time inspired artwork to be displayed during our ‘Time Flies’ exhibition.   The exhibition was officially opened with a concert held in the Memorial Hall.  This involved performances from our Rock Band, Choir, Ukulele Choir, and our Brass Band.  The children performed with real gusto, and opened the event with a bang!  Our audience were then invited to the school hall to enjoy the amazing art exhibition which had been put together.  It was fantastic to see so many people contributing to the art exhibition, and also coming to visit school to experience the amazing display of work.

We must say a huge thank you to Bryan Sentance, who arranged the exhibition and organised all of the work that the children had completed. The event was a huge success and we are very grateful for all of his hard work.

  • Plastic Free Schools Status

    Thu 08 Feb 2018

    Great news!

We have been awarded Plastic free Schools status by Surfers Against Sewage!

We are only the 9th school in the whole of the U.K to receive this award, and we are very proud of everyone’s efforts in this area.

Well done and Thank You to everyone who helped Class 4 to achieve this for our school, especially Sadie Davies who has headed up our Plastic Free Schools campaign.

On Tuesday when we found out we had been successful we came up with a great slogan.... 'We have won a 'Bottle' Battle but not the Plastic War!’

We have created some environmental activists!

The fight is not over yet, we will still be finding ways to reduce our plastic use in school so feel free to come and share your ideas with us.

  • Gardening Club - Mosaic

    Fri 02 Feb 2018

Gardening club have been making a vibrant table out of a cable drum and some donated mosaic tiles. We have finished the tiling now and just need to finish the final stages by applying the grout and tying string around the middle. It has been such a success that we might even design and make another one!

  • Gymnastics Nationals

    Thu 01 Feb 2018

After the results of the Milano School’s Competition, our boys’ team qualified for a place at the National finals in Stoke-on-Trent. At this competition they represented the South West and competed against teams from all over England, Scotland and Wales.

The snow didn’t stop Harvey Dack, Josh Lui and Ewan Shadrick, and though they weren’t individually placed in the top three, they certainly didn’t look out of place competing against the much larger schools who are able to practice for many hours a week. The boys gave their group routine 100% and contributed to an amazing 3rd place nationally, for the South West region.

The gymnasts should all be very proud of themselves for reaching national level and preforming a one minute routine by themselves on the floor, two vaults and an amazing group routine made up of team balances, gymnastic moves and an element of dance and linking steps, with hundreds of people watching them. We are all incredibly proud of them, and their position in the National Results.

As a school we would like to thank all of our Gymnastics coaches and assistants, who have worked tirelessly to help our children achieve absolutely phenomenal results.
